Privacy Policy
Effective October 5, 2026 · Last updated October 31, 2026
This policy covers Cars That Fit at carsthatfit.com, operated by Bradley Operations Group LLC, a California limited liability company based in Newport Beach, California.
The short version
- You can browse and swipe cards without an account. Your answers stay on that device until you sign in.
- Signing in syncs your setup and preferences. Household and shopping invitations share information only with authorized members.
- Signing out does not delete synced information. Account deletion and shared-data retention are explained below.
- We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising. We do not use your family setup for advertising profiles.
- Accounts and contributions are for adults, 18 or older. Family details are provided by the adult, not collected from a child.
Your setup, sharing and deletion
Family setup and Cars That Fit account sync
If you use Cars That Fit on carsthatfit.com, you can tell the tool about your household and what you need from a car. Depending on what you choose to enter, this can include children's car-seat stages and selected seat models, an optional age in whole years for each child you add (up to six) — stored with the month and year you entered it. The tool uses elapsed time to estimate the child's current age, labels that estimate, and asks you to confirm after 12 months — a separate optional youngest-child age in whole years, whether you are planning for another child, the dimensions of one or more garages you describe, a rough monthly car budget, vehicles already in your household, and preferences such as body style, powertrain, third row, price range, and must-have features. It can also include cars you save or compare, per-car preference overrides, and items you check during a dealer visit. This changed on September 17, 2026: this list now spells out what the tool has stored since early September. You can give each adult who rides a short name or nickname (up to 24 characters) and pick an emoji for them, and pick an emoji for each child. You can also enter an optional standing height: 4 to 7 feet for an adult, or 17 inches to 6 feet 3 for a child. A child's height is recorded with the month and year you entered it, the same way ages are, and it is held and not used yet — the tool says so where you enter it, and nothing reads it. An adult's height is used in one place: on a car's page, to draw that car's side view beside a figure of that height, to scale. The caption under that drawing also shows the name you gave that adult — for example, “Drawn at Dad’s 6′2″” — and says the figure is a stand-in when you have given no height. A few other fields take free text you choose, up to 24 characters each — a name for a garage, a nickname for a car, and a name for a stroller. Whatever you type there is stored with the rest of the setup, so it syncs when you are signed in and is visible to a household you share with. We use these answers to tailor vehicle-fit results and, when you are signed in, to sync it to your other devices as described below.
Before you sign in, a family setup is stored only in that browser or app installation and is not tied to an account. Changes you make while signed out stay on that device unless you later sign in. When you sign in to Cars That Fit, we store your family setup on Supabase against your account so it can follow you to other Cars That Fit browsers. Cars That Fit also stores its car preferences and saved-car identifiers so those can follow you to other Cars That Fit browsers.
Optional private reminders: these stay only in the Cars That Fit browser where you write them, separated by signed-in account. They are not uploaded, synced to another device, or included in household or share previews. Signing out hides that account’s reminders without deleting them. Signed-out reminders can be seen by anyone using that browser. Removing a saved car leaves its reminder until you delete it. Delete/Undo manages a reminder; Cars That Fit’s Clear everything removes this browser’s signed-out reminders and reminders for the current account. Delete account in the browser where you wrote them also clears those reminders there. It cannot erase reminders stored in a different browser; clear those there or clear that browser’s storage.
Car sharing starts with a public preview. You can deliberately include a model-level family-fit summary, which is shown before sharing. Private reminders, household identifiers and personal calculator entries are excluded. A public link may carry the selected car, model year, trim and configuration; it gives no access to your account or setup, and a version that no longer resolves is identified on the recipient’s car page.
Optional household sharing: each adult uses a separate account. If you create a household and another adult accepts an invitation, its members can access the household's shared My Stuff setup: the child-related information described above, adult riders, owned vehicles, garages, car seats and strollers, where that gear is used or stored, and any seat-expiration information you enter. Your chosen display name identifies you to members. Owners and Editors can change the shared setup; Viewers can read it. Joining shows which setup will be kept, and replacing a setup requires an editing role and an explicit choice.
Shopping lists start private. A household invitation does not automatically share your car, seat, or stroller shopping lists. A shopping list becomes available to another adult only after they accept its own invitation. Members who have accepted can see its title, preferences, candidate shortlist, each member's likes, purchase/archive status, and recorded update attribution. Editors can change preferences and candidates; Viewers can read and like existing candidates. Likes remain attributed to the adult who made them, and only the shopping list's creator can delete it. Personal saved-car bookmarks remain separate from these shared lists.
An expired or revoked unused invitation does not grant access. Leaving a household or shopping list ends access through that membership. When leaving a household, you choose whether to keep a personal copy of its My Stuff setup or leave it behind; the remaining members can keep using the shared setup. A copy deliberately kept after leaving is separate from the live household. Shared changes are synchronized between authorized members; changes made offline can wait on the device until a connection returns.
Removal by the owner: an owner can remove another adult. Shared access ends immediately, including shopping shared between that adult and the household. Each creator keeps their own shopping privately. The removed adult’s existing personal setup stays unchanged. They alone can choose a copy of the household’s cars, crew and gear for 30 days; it excludes private shopping and VINs. Restoring requires a comparison and explicit choice. Declining deletes the copy’s contents immediately. Restore receipts expire with the original copy; expired copies and receipts are hidden immediately and deleted hourly. Clearing your Cars setup or deleting your account erases your copies and receipts. An offline device clears protected household data when it next checks access.
Recent household changes: household members can see the latest 20 inventory and placement changes from the past 30 days. Activity records contain an actor reference, time, item type, opaque item identifier, and action—not child names, VINs, notes, or copies of your setup. Your current display name is shown only while you remain a member. Expired events are hidden immediately and deleted by an hourly cleanup. Clearing your Cars setup erases your activity; account deletion removes your actor reference from any remaining shared events. Private shopping is not included.
Synced records include update timestamps. The family setup can also include a coarse app, device, or browser label such as “iPhone · Safari,” used only to help you identify two conflicting setups. We do not use that label for analytics or advertising. Recommendations and vehicle-fit calculations still happen on your device. Signing out stops that client from syncing, but does not delete information already stored with your account.
Any child-related information is entered by you as the parent or caregiver, not collected from a child. We do not ask for a child's name or birth date. Accounts remain adults-only. See Your Cars That Fit account. When a client detects that both the device and account family setups changed, it asks which setup to use instead of silently overwriting one. Sign-in choices, household joins, and conflict resolutions keep separate recovery copies on that device, stamped for the signed-in account. A copy expires 30 days after it was saved and is not extended by viewing or restoring it. Copies without a verifiable account stamp are not offered for restore. Clearing Cars setup, deleting the account, or clearing that app or browser's storage removes eligible copies. These copies are not a cross-device backup.
Deleting your account removes your personal server setup, Cars That Fit preferences, saved-car records, likes, and memberships. Shared household data and shopping lists may remain with other active members; responsibility for a shared shopping list can transfer to a remaining member. Shared records with no remaining members are deleted. Account deletion does not erase a personal copy another adult deliberately kept after leaving. “Start over” clears the setup from the current client and, only while you are signed in, records the clearing on that client and retries sending it to your account when sync is reachable; while that retry is pending, the client does not restore the stale account copy. In Cars That Fit, its clear control also clears car preferences and saved cars. If you are signed out after previously syncing, sign back in before using that control, delete your account, or email us. Because a sync request can fail while offline or during a service error, use Delete account (Menu, My stuff, Account & data) for confirmed deletion of your synced account data, or email us. The shared-data retention rules above still apply when other members remain.
Photos of your car
You can add a photo of a car you own on that car's page in My Stuff, so it shows instead of our catalog picture. You need to be signed in, and you tap Agree to our photo terms first. Before anything is sent, the app redraws the photo on your device as a JPEG up to 1,600 pixels across. That drops the information a camera stores inside the file, such as the GPS location, the camera model, and the time it was taken.
We store the photo with Supabase in a private storage area, in a folder tied to your account, with a record of your agreement: which car in your garage it belongs to, which version of the terms you agreed to, and when. The photo is not public today: you see it on your own devices while signed in, and members of your household see it on the shared car. Under the license you grant when you tap Agree, Cars That Fit may later show it publicly on the site, for example next to reviews people post, or in posts about the site. We never show your email address with it.
Please don't upload photos that show people, especially children, or a readable license plate. You confirm that when you agree. We review a photo before we ever show it publicly, and we remove photos that break this rule when we find them.
You can remove a photo anytime from the car's page; we delete it from our storage and stop starting new uses of it. Removing a car from your garage while signed in, "Start over" while signed in, and deleting your account also delete the photos you added. A photo you added that no garage shows any more (for example, one a household member removed from the shared car) is deleted from your account when your app next syncs, at least an hour after you added it. A photo in a household garage copy you can still restore is kept until you restore or decline it, or the copy expires after 30 days. If no garage then shows that photo, it is deleted at the uploader's next successful sync. A use we had already published can remain, as the photo terms explain.
Launch emails and contact requests
The private-preview door offers an optional launch email. We store the address, whether it came from the app door or a car page, submission dates and a submission count. This does not create an account. We use it for one launch email, then delete the list, or remove your address earlier on request. No confirmation is required, so someone else could enter your address; the launch email explains that.
If you email a measurement, suggestion or support request, we receive your email address and the content you choose to send. We use it to answer you and investigate the request. Content you deliberately submit for publication as a contribution may be published under the contribution terms. Private support correspondence and family setup are not covered by that publication license. Do not include child details or other private information that is unnecessary for the request.
The consultation draw is closed and the app is not creating new entries. A previously recorded entry marker, if present, can remain in your synced car preferences until you clear your setup or delete your account. Future entry, booking and related data handling would be described in current rules before reopening it.
Service providers and external content
- Supabase stores account information, synced family setup, car preferences, saved cars, shared households and shopping lists, recovery records and private car photos. It handles sign-in and access controls.
- Vercel hosts the site and its server routes. Hosting providers process technical information such as IP addresses and request data to deliver and protect the site.
- Postmark delivers Cars That Fit account emails and the requested launch email. It processes the recipient address, email content and delivery or suppression records. We turn off email-open and link-click tracking and do not send your family setup with these emails.
- Support email providers process your address and the content you choose to send us so we can receive and answer your request.
- NHTSA decodes a VIN you choose to type through its public vPIC service. Our server sends the VIN and its own address to NHTSA, not your IP address or household setup. The lookup route does not log or store the VIN. NHTSA handles requests under its own privacy notice.
- YouTube API Services serve embedded videos through the privacy-enhanced player. The player loads only after you choose Agree and load video, agreeing to this policy and the YouTube Terms of Service. Loading the player sends technical information, including your IP address, before you press its play control. Playing makes further requests. YouTube may serve advertisements and use cookies or similar device storage under the Google Privacy Policy. We do not send your saved family setup to YouTube. You can instead follow an external Watch on YouTube link. Manufacturer, social and booking links also take you to services with their own policies; opening an external link does not send your saved family setup to that provider.
We may disclose information when legally required or to protect users and the security of the service. We use access controls to protect account data, but no transmission or storage method is completely secure.
Device storage and measurement
The site uses browser storage for your setup, preferences, saved cars, sign-in session, recovery copies and interface choices. The service worker caches pages and assets for use on slow connections or offline. Clearing browser storage removes device copies and may sign you out; it does not delete data already synced to your account.
Cars That Fit's interaction counters currently stay in a small, in-memory event buffer on the device; they are not sent to an analytics service. This site does not load advertising trackers or set analytics cookies. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, whether or not a browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. Those signals do not disable storage needed for features you choose to use. External services you open have their own tracking and browser-signal practices.
Children's privacy
Cars That Fit is for parents, caregivers and other adults, and is not directed to children. Accounts and contributions are for adults, 18 or older. Family information about a child is entered by the adult account holder. We do not ask for children's names or birth dates or use family information for advertising. Car photos must not show people, including children.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that a child has provided personal information without consent required by law, or that a person under 18 created an account, we will delete that information and close the account as soon as we can. Contact us if you believe this has happened.
Your choices and rights
Edit your setup and preferences in My stuff or the relevant shopping list. Remove car photos from the owned car's page. Leave a household or shared shopping list to end access through that membership. Other members may retain shared records or copies they deliberately kept, as described above.
Use Download your data under Menu, My stuff, Account & data while you are signed in. The file is a .zip downloaded in this browser. It is not emailed. It includes your account details, Find Your Fit answers and plans, saved cars, seats and strollers, gear you marked as owned in this browser, shopping lists you can see and the items on them, likes on those lists that identify this account, your household membership and role, a household copy you can still restore, the display names of people on those lists, car photos that can be downloaded, and private reminders for this account in this browser. The in-progress Find Your Fit card deck is not included. Household activity is included only when a record identifies this account. Activity that only has a display name is left out. The file does not include another person’s private reminders, signed-out reminders, another member’s private data, or another member’s account id.
Use Delete account under Menu, My stuff, Account & data to delete your Cars That Fit account and the personal data synced to it. Signing out is not deletion. “Start over” retries clearing your Cars setup from the account only while signed in; it can remain pending offline. For confirmed deletion, use Delete account or email us. Deleting the account does not erase active shared records retained by other members or already published contributions and licensed photo uses. In the browser where you delete the account, that account’s reminders, saved list, shortlist, sync record, in-progress Find Your Fit deck, owned gear, family backups, and household cache are removed. Recovery copies kept for a different account on this browser stay. An older archived copy from before this app’s storage change is left in place and is not uploaded.
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your personal information by email. Depending on where you live, applicable law may provide additional privacy rights. We honor these requests for all users and may need to verify that a request comes from the account holder. Clearing your browser storage does not delete the server copy.
How long we keep information
We keep account data while your account is active. Account deletion removes personal synced setup, preferences, saved-car records, likes, memberships and photos you added, subject to the shared-data and previously published-use exceptions above. Shared records with no remaining members are deleted. Local recovery copies, removed-member garage copies and shared activity have the 30-day limits described above; offline devices enforce revoked access when they next check it.
We keep support correspondence and contributions as needed to handle the request and maintain the service. Published contributions can remain under their license. Limited records may be retained where required for legal, security or fraud-prevention reasons. Launch-email addresses are deleted after the launch mailing or earlier on request.
Changes to this policy
We will update the date above when this policy changes and notify you of material changes through the site where appropriate.
